Hydroseeding is a grass planting process that is utilized as an alternative to sowing seed and laying sod. It is a process where seed and any combination of fertilizers, biostimulants, and other necessary chemicals are combined with water and a hydroseeding mulch to form a slurry that is sprayed on the ground. The utilization of fiber mulch in the slur accelerates the growth process by maintaining moisture around the seeds increasing germination rates.
The process is effective on hillsides and sloped lawns with grass production typically within one week and mowing maintenance between 3-4 weeks after application. The process of hydroseeding can be customized with specific grass types and fertilization methods to optimize soil production and meet the customer’s desired results. For maximum results, a soil test will need to be conducted to identify the required nutrients. Also, the ground may need to be re-graded, aerated, fertilized or new topsoil installed for the best outcome.
